I loved Venice! Despite all the tourists you can find quiet places, you just have to get away from the typical tourist routes. I felt very safe. The food is so yummy - do some research to not end in a tourist trap though.

It was super - so much art - about food: I only take Cicchettino and mozzarella in carrozza… outside so expensive - so much beautiful the sea and the quiet - it’s really really safe, like a bubble - Venice accent is so funny - you louse yourself on the bridges, are many … - it was unique, I will return

Felt safe as a solo female traveller, I stayed in a hostel and made a really nice group of friends - although watch out for pick pockets! Really pretty city and relatively inexpensive if you stay away from the busier and more touristic areas - go down little side streets and you’ll find some hidden gems for food and drink. Would recommend finding a group if you want a gondola ride as it was €100 which isn’t too bad when split between 5 people. Overall a really lovely city.
Posted: January 31, 2024I was in Venice in February. I felt very safe there and it was easy to get around the city using water buses. I stayed in an AirBnB over the Grand Canal and the street it was on was always busy with many shops, cafes, and restaurants, so it was easy to go out for dinner in the evening and sit in a cafe, watching the world go by. Great city to walk around.
Posted: September 25, 2023I visited Venice alone and didn't feel unsafe. I was never out really late, but I didn't feel like I had to hurry back before dark. After dusk, all the bridges and narrow streets of Venice looked the same, so I used different things as landmarks to make sure I was heading in the right direction - statues, shop displays, etc.
Posted: September 18, 2023The city on the water is very impressive and I've never seen anything like that before! There were SO MANY tourists. I've been there two days and on the second day I went off the main island and it felt much more authentic. I really recommended taking a swim in the sea and taking late evening public transportation boats.
Posted: August 10, 2023Experienced: June, 2023Too crowded in summer, but the food and the architecture was worth visiting. Expensive but delicious food. Avoid visiting on Easter holidays, it eilld be different to move around due to lots of tourists.
Posted: June 29, 2023Experienced: January, 2017I loved Venice. I stayed at a hostel in Venice Mestre (Venice on the mainland) and caught a train to St Lucia, where the main part of Venice is located. It cost €2 each way, and I usually walked everywhere in Venice.
Posted: June 18, 2023We lived in an appartment which belonged to a friend of a friend so we didn't have to pay accomodation. We stayed away from the crowded streets and didn't even bother to go on the expensive gondolas. The absence of cars makes this city feel like an outer world, very peaceful. We visited the Biennale which was very interesting and the park was lovely. Overall I keep amazing memories, and the sunsets were beautiful

I visited Venice during the carnival festival with friends. The city is very elegant with a vibrant vibe in its surroundings. Those canals and boat rides are dreamy. The masked festive locals are extremely friendly and add spark to the moment. The local desert castagnole is delicious. I recommend visiting Venice and experience it's vibe, if during the carnival time it will be even better. Beware of the crowds🤞.
Posted: June 12, 2023Experienced: January, 2023Venice is pretty safe except the pickpockets. But if you stay on the mainland (Mestre or Marghera) it is better to be aware all the time. Mestre is one of the most dangerous cities in Italy. i recommend to keep you money and personal stuff very close to yourself.

Hello, I am an Erasmus student from Istanbul, Turkey. I am in Venice until the end of June. I have been traveling but my budget is limited. I would be open for meeting up and showing around in Venice also, in Istanbul, when I go back. Since I'm currently staying in a dorm, I can't be a host.

Hi I'm an exchange student in Helsinki. I am an easy-going and an open minded person who likes meeting new people and learn new things. I like nightlife, food and hanging out even for a walk. I'd like to visit as many countries as I can during my exchange year.
